Broadening Horizons (BH) is a series of international conferences organised by and dedicated to graduate, postgraduate students, and early-career researchers dealing with ancient Western Asia and Egypt, incuding pre-Classical and Classical periods.
The eighth edition – Broadening Horizons 8 (BH8) – will take place at the University of Milan in February 2027 under the overall theme “What Future for the Past? At the Crossroads of Tradition and Innovation”. The conference will develop over five days and will be organized into five thematic sessions which will reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing the study and preservation of the human past at a moment of profound global change. The session will promote intergenerational dialogue and the exchange of methodological, conceptual, and disciplinary expertise across a broad range of fields, including archaeology, history, philology, anthropology, cultural heritage studies, and related disciplines.
Broadening Horizons 8 will be hosted by the Dipartimento di studi letterari, filologici e linguistici of the University of Milan.
